The pilot issue of Radical Creativities served as our manifesto, a declaration of intent that outlined the potential of cultural and creative practices to bring about just and equitable transformations. Now, with this first issue, we move from intent to action—this is our action plan.
Our aim is to create a common space where professionals from diverse fields—researchers, artists, planners, curators—come together to share and reflect on the transformative power of cultural practices. These reflections are presented through an array of methodologies and languages, ranging from research to art, from poetry to participatory design, and expressed in multiple media. Visual contributions enrich the written word, creating a polyphonic space for dialogue and exploration.
As you delve into this issue, you will notice recurring themes: participation, collaboration, co-creation, the relationship between nature and humanity, past and present, and the intricate interplay between words and meaning. Yet, these themes are articulated in different ways, from different perspectives, shaped by the language, experiences, and intentions of their authors.
This multiplicity is unified by our peer review process, which ensures that all contributions—regardless of medium or approach—are placed on the same level. This process is more than an evaluative exercise; it is a mechanism for creating a common ground for dialogue. Through this, Radical Creativities becomes not just a platform for showcasing ideas of creative transformation but also a laboratory for developing a shared vocabulary, one that can bridge disciplines, methodologies, and mentalities.
Our ambition goes beyond presenting diverse perspectives. The next step in our journey is to foster collaborative dialogues among contributors, promoting cross-sharing exercises that bring together individuals from different disciplines but united by a common goal: to imagine and enact transformative cultural practices.
With this first issue, we invite you not only to read but to engage—to see, to listen, and to reflect. Together, we can explore the power of radical creativity as a force for transformation and lay the groundwork for more inclusive, collaborative, and engaged practices.
Welcome to the first issue of Radical Creativities.
